Ohio Prescription Drug Abuse Problems

With one in ten babies born testing positive for drugs, and now killing more people than crack cocaine in the 1980's and heroin in the 1970s combined, there is no doubt that Ohio's prescription drug addiction problem is affecting all ages and social classes across the state.

A peaceful industrial town once known for its steel, Portsmouth Ohio, currently holds a reputation for being the city with the highest rates of prescription drug overdoses in the state of Ohio, many of them being young teens belonging to addicted parents.

Ohio's severe prescription drug problem has recently prompted Governor John Kasich to announce $36 million in new spending; an odd move considering nationwide fiscal austerities, yet not a moment too soon for state officials, counselors and families of drug addicts across the state of Ohio who believe more money should be invested in educational programs in order to eliminate drug related casualties in the near future.

If you or someone you know is struggling with prescription drug addiction, get help. Cove Center for Recovery is a nationally recognized drug treatment center providing addiction treatment programs, addiction treatment prevention as well as aftercare services.
